FAQ
  • How does laser hair removal work?
The laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin to the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle to destroy it so that hair can never grow there again.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
Although “Laser Hair Removal” is the most commonly used term, the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) uses the term “Permanent Reduction” to describe the effect of the devices it approves. “This means that although laser treatments with these devices will permanently reduce the total number of body hairs, they will not result in a permanent removal of all hair.”
  • Am I a viable candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be applied to all areas of the body and on all types of skin. The thickness and colour of your skin and the colour of the hair to be removed will determine which lasers can be used and how successful the treatment may be. Laser therapy for laser hair removal works best for people with dark hair. People with FAIR HAIR cannot be treated.
  • Does laser hair removal hurt?
The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band. Slight redness or localised swelling can occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.
  • How can I be sure laser treatment is safe?
Lasers have been used in medicine for over 30 years. The clinical staff here are trained to the highest standard and regularly update their clinical knowledge and skills.
  • What happens during the procedure?
Depending on the area of the body to be treated, the procedure may take anywhere from ten minutes to one hour. In most cases, no anaesthesia is necessary. During treatment, a focused laser beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. A percentage of those follicles are instantaneously and permanently disabled with each treatment.
  • How many treatments are required?
Patients typically see results in six to eight treatments, though this will vary based on skin tone, hair colour and other factors. Your consultant will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual results. In some areas, such as the legs, faster results will be achieved. Within four treatments, at least 40 percent of your hair will be gone forever. Within eight treatments higher results will be achieved. You can expect similar results for the bikini area, under the arms, on the arms, and the facial and chest areas. The back area of men is usually more challenging and may take a few extra treatments. The results will, of course, vary from person to person based on age, gender, punctuality with appointments, hair colour etc.
  • How do I prepare for hair removal?
PLEASE READ PRE- LASER TREATMENT GUIDE.
  • Is shaving as effective as laser hair removal?
Traditional methods of hair removal only remove the part of a hair shaft that grows above the skin. For complete removal of hair, laser treatment is best. Shaving does not make hair grow back in faster, darker or thicker!
  • How soon do I expect to see results? How do I know it is working for me?
You will see results starting with VERY FIRST session. The hair growth will be less and the hairs finer and weaker; your skin will become smoother, and the hair pores on your skin will become less visible after each session. The results will become more impressive with each following session.
  • I have ingrown on my face, legs, bikini area and back. Would laser help?"
Absolutely. Even after one treatment, you will notice that most of your ingrown hairs will be terminated. Within few weeks, the area will be smooth, and the colour of your skin will return to your original skin colour.
  • What is the Aftercare?
PLEASE READ POST- LASER TREATMENT GUIDE.
  • How long do I wait between each session? How do I know when to come for my next treatment?
We like to do the first 3-4 treatments within specific intervals (4-6 weeks depending on what area it is) because we like to catch the majority of your hair in its growth cycle and destroy it. After you lose most of your hair, it is wiser to go by observation of new hair growth: when you start to see new stubble (new hair growth), you can make an appointment within two weeks and this timeframe will vary from person to person as well as from area to area.
